Southern Cross Horse Treks have a variety of horse riding programs, tailored to suit experienced (intermediate & advanced) horse riders. Join us for any length of time from a single day ride to weekend or a full week holiday with 6 day rides.

We have a 6-day riding holiday week scheduled fortnightly all year-round, but we can arrange a program at your request any time.

Two hour, half day and full day rides are also available. Riding programs of other lengths can be arranged if required.

Southern Cross Horse Treks only rides in small groups so you can be assured of feeling perfectly looked after during riding as well as on the farm.

Non-riding partners are welcome to travel in our 4wd vehicle to meet riders for lunch on day rides or to stay and enjoy the facilities and hospitality provided at Kerewong on extended horse trekking tours.

Horseriding on secluded NSW Mid North Coast Beaches

Southern Cross Horse Treks is ideally located in the Lorne Valley near Kendall between Port Macquarie and Taree on the Mid North Coast of NSW Australia. This horse riding location takes in the best of the Australian bush, hinterland, rainforest, secluded beaches and green farm valleys of the Australian East Coast.

Horse riding routes are chosen from hundreds of miles of forest trails through 20,000 hectares of NSW North East Coast State Forests. Southern Cross Horse Treks select horse trail riding routes to give a good variety of landscapes and plenty of opportunities for long trots and canters in various bush, beach and mountain terrains.

Horse Rider Abilities

All rides are for experienced or intermediate riders and more advanced horse riders only. Young children and beginner riders are not catered for. Horse riders should be reasonably fit, capable of mounting and dismounting unassisted, have a firm seat and be confident and capable to control a forward going fit horse at all paces in varied open country. Leading one's horse over short distances may be required on occasion.

Horse and rider safety are a consideration at all times and the wearing of safety helmets (provided) and suitable riding boots/shoes (heeled) are compulsory for all riders at all times.

All horse riders will be asked to sign a waiver liability form and declaration regarding their horse riding experience. Prior to riding out a short warming up and training session will be held in an enclosed arena to familiarise riders to their horses.

Country & Coast Horse Trail Riding Holiday

Southern Cross Horse Treks 6 day horse trail riding holiday program scheduled fortnightly all year-round. The program includes 6 different dayrides, 7 nights accommodation and meals.

Accommodation is at the horse farm property Kerewong Lodge and Cabin. Please contact us to confirm exact dates for the 6-day horse riding program. We can also arrange programs or dates on your request. If you wish you can just join in the riding and organise your own accommodation elsewhere.
