Australian Autumn - April 2016

Read about the upcoming dates for Winter Weekend rides and other news from Kerewong.

The 2015/2016 summer season was long on the NSW Mid North Coast, especially March, which still had very hot and humid days. But April has been beautiful with warm days and cooler nights making it easier for horses and riders on our longer treks.

Winter - Weekend Horse Riding Tours

It won't be long now until we light the wood-burning fire for cosy evenings in the guest lounge or have sundowners around the outdoor fire-pit after a day of riding.

The winter months are usually a bit more quiet and it has opened up some opportunities for weekend rides.

Winter has perfect riding weather and the cooler weather makes for faster horses too!

Currently I have scheduled Weekend Rides for the following dates for Winter Weekend Riding in 2016 (Friday evening to Sunday Afternoon, or you can arrive on Thursday and / or depart Monday and make it a long weekend):

  • 27 - 29 May
  • 3 - 5 June
  • 8 - 10 July
  • 29 - 31 July
  • 19 - 21 August
  • 26 - 28 August

Please contact Kathy if you want to reserve a spot on any of these weekend rides. Details can be found on the website at:

Toby Started His Tour Horse Job

While Charlie and Ness (the two fastest horses Kerewong ever had) both turned 20 years old and are now fulltime retired << (Read Charlie's birthday story in the Blog), the newest Kerewong horse started his trail job.

Toby joined the Kerewong herd in August and got ready for his job in record time. He had his first guest rider in February and is quickly becoming a guest favourite.

Toby is an uncomplicated horse to ride, stands out for his friendly nature and is a real people pleaser. He still is getting used to having different riders and needs a relaxed and gentle rider.

Like all newcomers he still has a way to go in fitness but this will improve "on the job". He's trying very hard to keep up with the other horses and loves the gallops especially if he can follow Aliya.
