When booking a horse riding tour or trek with Southern Cross Horse Treks Australia, all riders must acknowledge and agree with the following Terms and Conditions.

Southern Cross Horse Treks - Terms & Conditions
- Riding program is subject to variation depending on weather & terrain conditions and forestry & coastal activities.
- International guests must have adequate medical and travel insurance. It is recommended that all guests have travel insurance and travel cancellation insurance for the riding holiday.
- Risk Warning: Horses can act in a sudden and unpredictable way and Horse Riding and associated activities are a dangerous recreational activity, with a significant risk of injury including death.
- You will be required to sign a liability indemnity form to state that you ride and participate in the Southern Cross Horse Treks tours at your own risk and by participating you will accept all risks of injury or death in any way.
- Wearing a safety helmet and suitable heeled riding shoes/ boots is compulsory (helmets can be provided).
- You are required to disclose accurate information about your horse riding experience. The minimum required riding level is intermediate: you must be confident and capable to control a forward going fit horse in all paces (including longer stretches of rising trot, fast canters and gallops) in varied, sometimes challenging terrain, capable of mounting / dismounting unassisted, have a firm balanced seat and able to ride for at least 4 hours per day.
- A rider can be excluded from the riding program for inability to ride according to the minimum required riding level (see above) or the riding level they indicated at time of booking, supplying incorrect information (for example re. riders weight or riding experience or riding level) or behavior that endangers other persons or horses, in which case the customer will not be refunded the riding program fee.
- Rider weight limit: 80 kilo. Some exceptions made for advanced riders up to 85 kilo.
- 20% Non-refundable deposit payment is required to confirm your booking.
- Full amount is payable at least 1 month before start of riding program.
- Minimum required group size: 2 riders. If the minimum required group size is not met the Stationary Program (day rides) will attract a small group surcharge of AUD300 and the Progressive Trek program will be changed to the Stationary Ride Itinerary (no surcharge).
- Cancellation fees for cancellation by the customer:
- At up to 2 months before start of riding program: 20% of total balance (=deposit).
- Between 1 and 2 month before start of riding program: 50% of riding program fee.
- Within 1 month before start of riding program: 100% of riding program fee.
- Cancellation by tour operator (Southern Cross Horse Treks Pty Ltd):
- Cancellation or change of riding program due to unforeseeable circumstances (Force Majeure): Compensation payments and refunds do not apply where the Riding Program cannot be carried out or the Riding Program is changed because of unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond the control of Southern Cross Horse Treks Pty Ltd., the consequences of which could not have been avoided even with the exercise of all due care. Examples include: (threat of) war, natural or nuclear disaster, fire or adverse extreme weather conditions, technical or maintenance problems with transport, forestry activities or other events, changes imposed by rescheduling or cancellation of flights by an airline, accommodations becoming unavailable or other similar events beyond the control of Southern Cross Horse Treks Pty. Ltd. In these circumstances the tour operator (Southern Cross Horse Treks) has full authority to decide on whether the ride is to take place or not or to make changes to the riding program itinerary.
- There will be no compensation payments or refund of the Riding Program fee where customers are excluded from the Riding Program due to supplying incorrect information (for example re. the riders weight or riding experience or riding level) or behavior that endangers other persons or horses.
- There will be no compensation payments or refunds if a rider is prevented from or reluctant or unable to continuing the riding program or part of the riding program after falling off a horse or any other injury or illness sustained before or during the riding program. There will also be no refunds for any rest days from riding taken by the customer.
- When Southern Cross Horse Treks Pty. Ltd. cancels the Riding Program at any time before start of the Riding Program for any other reason except as described above the customer will be refunded the full amount paid by the customer.
- Photography: Southern Cross Horse Treks may wish to use photographs, film (video) or audio taken during your holiday or horse ride to promote the riding program on the website, social media or in publications. If you are opposed to this, you must communicate this at the time of booking or before starting your holiday.
The customer accepts and agrees to these booking terms and conditions by paying the deposit amount.
